Ex Presideent John Mahama in an interview on Woezor TV after completing his three-day tour of the Oti Region has stated that he will not start any new project when he resumes office after the upcoming December 7 elections. According to him, he would rather focus on the numerous uncompleted projects and see to it that they are completed.

“We will start no new project in the first year and what we will do is to harness all resources that are possible to continue and finish projects that have been left abandoned. In the first three months when I come into office, we are going to ask all districts to take inventory of projects that have been abandoned and have come to a standstill and base on that inventory; we will do a budget to include providing resources to finish those projects and then we can look at other projects,” he said.

He described the failure of successive governments to continue projects inherited as a setback in Ghana’s development trajectory.

The NDC Flagbearer further said, “The tragedy is that, when you are working on things like roads and you develop it to a certain stage and you don’t finish it; what happens is that it deteriorate and if you want to do finish it, it becomes even more expensive.”
